April 2024 NFIA Board Meeting
Please find information relating to our recent NFIA Board Meeting:
Minutes NFIA virtual board meeting, Wednesday 3 April 2024
Present: Technical Chairman Lennart Magnusson, Secretary and Treasurer Simon Osgood, Vice Chairman Steffi Westerlund and Chairman Per Buch.
1: The Nordic Folkboats class rules are administrated by the Danish Sailing Federation and not World Sailing like most international boat classes. NFIA will look into the historical reason and evaluate pros and cons in the coming year.
2: Changes in class rules 2025-2028 proposed by Technical Committee was presented and agreed with minor changes. As always, class rules are to protect the spirit of one design and ensure fair competition.
3: The work with making an updated official drawing of the Nordic Folkboat is in process. The drawing has high priority by the board in order to have an updated common reference corresponding with the class rules. A budget will be provided by Technical Committee.
4: The Annual General Meeting will take place in connection with the Gold Cup in Halmstad, Sweden, Monday 8 July at 19.00 CET. For National Associations not able to participate physically, a virtual link will be available alternatively voting by proxy.
According to the statutes, items for the agenda at the general meeting shall only be accepted from the Secretary of the National Associations, and shall be in the hands of the Secretary of the NFIA not later than 6 weeks before the meeting (27 May 2024)
The agenda for the General Meeting shall be sent to each National Association one month before the meeting. (10 June)
5: The virtual NFIA International spring meeting will take place 25 April 19.00 CET. Invitations and agenda will be sent in the coming weeks.
6: Once again, NFIA wish to encourage young crews to participate in the Gold Cup by reimbursing 50 % of the registration fee. NFIA ask the organizer, Halmstad Segelsällskap, to include this message in the various press releases and copy the NFIA Secretary for further distribution. Lennart Magnusson will reach out to them.
