2025 - April - NFIA Note

Dear National Chairmen, Board members and measurers,

As you probably know, weight distribution has been high on the agenda in NFIA during the winter starting with a Swedish proposal later accepted on the Swedish Annual General Meeting. Latest it was discussed during the measurers meeting in February and International Teams meeting March 20. More details on NFIA’s website April - 2025 - Nordic Folkboat International Association and previous board meetings.

As informed and agreed during these meetings, NFIA Technical Committee now provide technical instructions to all measurers as per enclosed file and we kindly ask you to make sure you have measurement capacity to measure, in connection with weighing, minimum 20 % of all boats randomly, but including last years top 3 if they participate, during National and international championship such as Gold Cup and Sessan Cup. Please send report after each event and not later than October 1 to the Technical committee.

It is important to mention that the Board does not perceive any widespread acute crisis in the class. However, it is important that the rumors are cleared up and immediately remedied. We must take care of our heritage to manage the classic Folkboat in a wise and sensible way. The board feels that most sailors are proud of our one design class Folkboat and respectfully follow the applicable class rules.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the TC or the NFIA board.

Best regards

NFIA Board and Technical Committee.
